Study about male/female executives

February 20th, 2011

Thanks to my friend, Diane Babco:

A recent blind survey/test of male/female senior executives found that women ranked higher by a wide margin in 18 of 20 categories tested.

Judy B. Rosener, USC Professor and author of “America’s Competitive Secret: Women Managers,” concludes that women’s strengths match new economy imperatives, noting that women:

·       Link (rather than rank)

·       Favor interactive-collaborative leadership style (empowerment beats top-down decision making)

·       Sustain fruitful collaborations

·       Are comfortable with sharing information

·       See redistribution of power as victory, not surrender

·       Favor multi-dimensional feedback

·       Value technical and interpersonal skills, and Individual and group contributions equally

·       Readily accept ambiguity

·       Honor intuition as well as pure “rationality”

·       Are Inherently flexible

·       Appreciate cultural diversityS
