the fountain at the dragonfly ranch in hawaii

Aloha Dragonflyers,

Hoping you are all healthy, happily enjoying warm weather wherever you are.

Thanks to our German friend, Peter, our frog fountain (pictured above) is operating in fine form.

Good news regarding my movie, To Die Laughing. I spent a few weeks in Ashland, OR, with writer Will Wilkinson, working on the outline for my future award-winning screenplay. It is coming together! Now, as soon as my perfect new manager(s) materialize (please contact me if you would like to help), I will have time to have this screenplay come more into focus. It is fascinating how the characters are creating themselves in this romantic comedy about death!

Also, in Rome in 1980 when I met Robin Williams (whom I hope to have star in my movie), I also made a wonderful heart connection with Bobby Altman, Robert Altman’s son. Now working on Lost in Honolulu, Bobby is coming to Dragonfly with his family this next week. I envision the possibility of our collaborating on To Die Laughing.

Local artist, Robert Woodward, affectionately known as Woody, has blessed us with this artistic touch to our lanai, opposite our Tang Dynasty (1400 year old) Quan Yin. Hanging free in the open air, the painting is framed by the greenery of the garden.

I'm praying that my 4 year negotiations with my lease owners, Bishop Estate, soon will draw to a successful conclusion. As some of you know, the Bed and Breakfast business at best is not really profitable when there are 5 rooms or fewer. My attendance at a professional innkeepers conference this year taught me that it is all about “maintaining a lifestyle”--for which I have been blessed all these 30 years. After Mercury goes out of retrograde, by working together with my landlords I hope to continue maintaining this lifestyle I so enjoy sharing with all of you.

For those of you who have become my precious Dragonfly Ohana (family), feel free to call me about participating in making these 2 acres into a self-sustaining farm. It has always been my dream to create a "green" community of dedicated “family,” periodically coming and going, living off the grid, creating Hawaiian orchid flower essences, planting and harvesting therapeutic noni, eating fresh veggies straight from the garden, collecting our rain water, having chickens who scratch in the ground, carefully recycling, etc. Now that the economy is the way it is, it is wise to prepare for what may be inevitable. It seems that the key is to simplify, need less, use less, grow our food, and help one another in the community--like in the olden days when we lived close to the earth in harmony with nature.

If you are wanting to come to Kona for your holidays. Dragonfly Cottage vacation rental can host you and your families in style. In fact, you can even consider bringing your entire family—including your pets! With the no quarantine protocol in effect now, all you need to do is 6 months preparation with a chip in order to have your fur-child be able to come on vacation with you! While I still own it, Dragonfly Cottage is the perfect place to accommodate all of you.

I'm hoping that someone I know and love will buy the Dragonfly Cottage. I am reducing the cost to the bargain price of $425,000! It should move quickly at this price so please contact me ASAP if you want to own 1/2 acre in Kealia with an adorable 3 bedroom 2 bath home--which includes the option to build another house.

The Pu'uhonua O Honaunau National Historical Park is having a cultural festival June 28th and 29th. This photo was taken at sunrise in this amazing sanctuary located just 3 minutes from the Dragonfly Ranch. Such a gift!

If I were to keep this adorable cottage, I'm exploring all possibilities--including partnering. Please notify me if you are seriously interested.

If any of you are elders or have aging parents you want taken good care of--who have mild “assisted living needs” and would like to stay in a healthy, holistic, and love-filled home (possibly with a favorite pet)--please let me know. We can arrange for nutritious, garden fresh food--as well as the possibility of puttering in the sun-drenched garden. There is also the K1 exercise machine (call me if you want a 1 ½ hour workout, building muscle and bone density by standing on this machine for 10 minutes) along with a detoxifying sauna (ask me about a discount price if you want to own one), liquid vitamin nutrition, guided tours to the local beaches, and movie entertainment, music, TLC, stimulating conversation and FUN.

Dragonflyers believe in staying healthy and enjoying life, until it is time to let go and move on! We are also prepared to help you create a love-filled Video Will of your life . When you see the To Die Laughing movie, you’ll want to have a “will making party”!

Take a look at this silly dog keeping his foot from “getting” his bone!

Recently I felt overwhelmed when I read an extremely comprehensive and well written piece by Chalmers Johnson, called Going Bankrupt: Why the Debt Crisis Is Now the Greatest Threat to the American Republic sent to me by tomdispatch.com.

The same day, I got an email from my reverent friend, Rev. Will Wilkinson, (pictured at right with lovely Tashina), called The Gratitude Gap, (adobe acrobat pdf file). It is a short and extremely inspirational read that I suggest you take the time to enjoy. In fact, you might want to print it out and digest it, like a delicious, nutritious meal for your soul--that you can eat anytime you want--FOR FREE!  The Gratitude Gap is the perfect antidote to dealing with knowledge of the military/industrial/congressional-paved road to our national debt--or anything else depressing!

Many of you may have seen the 18-minute video, My Stroke of Insight by neuroscientist, Jill Bolt Taylor. This is wonderfully inspirational. What I did’t realize until I found Phoenix watching this fascinating video on mushrooms and their bio remediation potential by Paul Stamets, is that there are a thousand leading edge thinkers giving 18 minute talks on technology, entertainment and design, hence the name TED. Like Jane Goodall on what separates us from the apes, and her coming out of the jungle to tour the world promoting her roots and shoots program to raise awareness around the world. When you have a few moments to spare, you might want to look over these inspirational talks that focus on the positive possibilities. A refreshing break from the doom and gloom of mainstream media.

peace sign
In 1958, by combining the semaphore letters N and D, for Nuclear Disarmament, the PEACE SIGN was created.

You would think that after 50 years of knowing what WRONG is, we could get it RIGHT!

Let's make this year a Happy Birthday for Peace.

- Worldwide DU Condemnation

-Regarding War Resistors in Canada

- 9/11 Truth Unveiled

- Prohibition of Chicken from China

I'm hoping some of you will write to our county council, encouraging them to hold the military accountable for the lethal Depleted Uranium on the Big Island. I would like nothing less than complete cease fire and full REMEDIATION of all 854 plus toxic sites on these "pristine" islands called The Aloha State. This resolution is a baby step.

From a tourist who wants Hawaii to be peaceful and safe when you are on vacation in the islands, a simple request from you for a yes vote on Resolution 639-08, would be helpful for our council members when they make their decision on July 3. If you do take this action, please know that those of us struggling to keep Hawaii from being ever more militarized, will be most appreciative.

Our little island, unlike the federal government, is in alignment with 111 countries that have joined together to ban this odious material called DU. Read here for details my friend wrote: Letter To Hawaii County Council

On a lighter note, take a look at this amazing elephant portrait!

Aloha nui loa,

Mahalo for keeping connected with me, Dragonfly, and Hawaii through my Dragonflyer. I send my heartfelt love and appreciation.

Barbara Ann “Kenonilani” Moore

In memory of Jack Davis, a precious friend I knew since 1971, I send you his favorite phrase: “LOVE AND LIGHT”.
Gently, Jack left his body at the end of March after 72 years of being a tremendous beacon of Aloha to everyone he met. He set an example of how to live, sharing love, music, laughter, and joy—and how to easily accept death as part of life. The Kona community was blessed to have had his loving energy touch us all.

At Joan Ocean’s home where a number of us gathered to celebrate his life, we joined our voices together saying the traditional Lord’s Prayer in honor of our Christ-like friend, Jack.

The following is a rendering from an Aramaic version of the Lord's Prayer. I tweaked it to my liking:

O Breathing-Life-of-All,
Cosmic Birther of all radiance and vibration!
Soften the ground of our being and gently massage the space within us where Your Presence abides.
Fill us with Your creativity so that we may be empowered to bear the fruit of Your mission.
Let each of our actions flourish in accordance with our highest good and cherished desires.
Endow us with the wisdom to produce and share what each being needs to grow with steady strength.
Untie the tangled threads of destiny that bind us, as we release others from the entanglements of past inappropriate actions or thoughts.
Do not let us be seduced by that which would divert us from our true purpose, but illuminate the opportunities of the present moment,
For You are the fruitful vision, the birth-power and fulfillment as all is gathered and re-membered once again.                 Ameen
