Dragonflyer Newsletter # 26

March 2009

Aloha Dear Dragonflyers,

Sending to you a bright breath of Kona sunshine at the end of your long, cold Winter. Spring is Marching in soon!

My dear friends, Dr. Jutta Reichardt, and sound healer/musician/singer Christian Bollman, (http://www.lichthaus-musik.de/) took this photo of an amazing sunset when they brought a group here from Germany for 2 weeks in January.

The German group helped in the garden, doing “horticultural therapy”—eliminating mental obstructions while weeding; pruning tree limbs and personality parts no longer of service; and planting seeds of new beginnings.

During their two week stay, these marvelous people had a number of amazing adventures such as: spending a day with the dolphins at Hookena; hearing Makana in concert in Hilo; and glorying in the presence of a double rainbow at the Pu'uhonua with full moon setting while the sun was rising.

We welcome more workshops and retreats--especially with guests as wonderful as our German friends. If you care to learn more about what this one was like, click here for a full synopsis.

WHALES CELEBRATE INAUGURATION DAY

Aka, Chanting at the Pu’uhonua on Inauguration Day, joyously exclaims amazement about a group of whales joining in the celebration.

ARE WE DOOMED OR IS THE FUTURE ROSY? TAKE YOUR PICK

Hope channeled by Matthew--Click here for an airy perspective of the economic situation happening and a pretty picture of who Obama is historically.

On the other hand, there is the theory that we must be on guard that the "Military/Industrial/Congressional Complex" (Ike's original wording) is financially draining the US dry according to one of my favorite tell-it-like-it-is writers, Chalmers Johnson http://tomdispatch.blogspot.com/2009/02/interview-with-chalmers-johnson.html

MEDIUM PREDICTED OWL VISIT

In January we had a special guest who came for a few days that turned into a month! Troy Parkinson, documentary filmmaker…and spirit medium has written a new book about his gift as a medium.

Troy gave me a reading, predicting that my mother would make her presence known in the form of a bird, our Aumakua. I knew it would be the owl as my mother speaks to me this way from the other side.

At the end of the two-week visit, when the German group was singing a song of appreciation to me, the owl suddenly appeared like lightning 5 feet behind my head. I felt my mother’s loving presence, proud that our "dream"--of hosting workshops for growth and healing--has come true.

AGRICULTURAL SUSTAINABILITY PLANS UNDERWAY

After settling lease renewal negotiations (which require more money than I presently have but is necessary for being "in compliance" with my lease), the plan is to have these beautiful 2 acres become an agriculturally productive show place. That will include having water catchment, solar power, chickens, sheep, and an aquaponics system--demonstrating how to feed ourselves and the community with tilapia that fertilize the organic vegetables, herbs (like olena/turmeric), noni, cacao, vanilla, bamboo, fruit trees--as well as our experimental orchids for Flower Essences .

We wish to set an example of working in harmony with the devic spirits, (as my friend, Peter Caddy, wrote about in "The Magic of Findhorn"), returning to nature for our sustenance and spiritual connection to Gaia as we release attachment to materialism, oil, etc.

DONATE TO DRAGONFLY?
Dragonfly is applying for a 501 (c) (3) status. Anyone with experience want to help me do that?

We will be teaching intensive agriculture for sustainability and profit while negotiating a new 35-year agricultural lease.

The plan is to have agritourism as well as hosting a variety of workshops including some that will help this and other communities to be self-sufficient. To make this happen, contributions will be most appreciated. If all goes according to plan, it can be tax deductible for you.

My spirit guides, using our dear medium, Troy Parkinson as a communication vehicle, encouraged me to ask for contributions from those of you who have been “beneficially influenced” by your experience at our upscale treehouse healing arts eco-spa. Might you want to see Dragonfly continue flying and even fly higher with your small or large donation? If so, send your love offering to:

WINNER OF MARRY YOURSELF WEDDING VOW CONTEST

My vow-writing contest for marriage of your male/female self, ended on Valentine’s Day with Courtney Walsh as the winner of $1000 worth of Dragonfly lodging. These are her well-written vows and a link to her website.

Courtney is an inspirational Mental Health Speaker who uses humor and honesty when she talks of her journey learning to love herself through bouts of suicidal depression. She is the author of "Lipstick and Thongs in the Loony Bin"--a great read.

PRICELESS COLLECTION OF ART

Christian Bollman recently sent me the most amazing PowerPoint collection of artistic photography and music of African bush tribes (this link will initiate a download of said powerpoint presentation) using nature to adorn themselves. I suggest you enjoy this journey in a quiet moment when you want astonishingly quality entertainment.

If you don't have PowerPoint you can download a free viewer here:

THE BLOG ROLLS ON

Please check out my blog occasionally to learn what I glean from my aware friends on the Internet. Whenever possible, I hope you will take action to encourage responsible behavior—something we have hopefully learned to do since, as a nation, we were asleep at the wheel for way too long.

NEW DRAGONFLY OHANA

Elliot Paul Domalewski

Angel being, Elliot, has lifted Dragonfly to new heights of cleanliness and beauty. Anna is here visiting from the British Isle of Jersey, and Tammy, from Georgia, arrives March 17.

Phoenix (who moved to Maui for a while) and I learned about growing tilapia from friendlyaquaponics.com farm in Honakaa last month. Liliokalani, a lilac tip Siamese kitten living there, ended up coming home with us.

Everyone who meets Lilio, including me and our new Jack Russell/Chihuahua, falls deeply in love with her.

RECIPE FOR "3PM MEAL IN A BOWL"

As I just took a break for food I realized that I need to include a recipe in this Dragonflyer! Why not tell you what I made for my 3 pm protein hit? It was easy. I loved it, it works for all blood types and is perfect for that 3pm prime time to digest protein.

I used left over red quinoa from breakfast and left over wild salmon (but could have been sardines--both low in mercury content) from dinner.

Added:

- grated turmeric and ginger
- sliced green onions
- finely cut fresh garden greens
- carrot and celery slices
(all organic, of course)

AND then I added the leftover magic Famous Phoenix Green Dressing (video recipe)

YUM YUM! Then all I need later is a light evening snack like Pumpkin Butter on Celery before I retire.

MORE TO COME IN ANOTHER DRAGONFLYER

There is more I wish to share with you but I don’t it to overwhelm you. Like the internationally famous GMO expert Jeffrey Smith speaking at the Dragonfly--soon to be available for you to see. Or the week-long TTouch for Humans workshop with Linda Tellington Jones that I recorded and will help get into a DVD form. Or the story about my island doctor friend with liver cancer. He postponed his funeral plans after using noni and now wants me to supply noni for his cancer study with the University. Soon, another Dragonflyer.

Until then, sending you big-hearted hugs, happy laughs, and my warmest Aloha,

Barbara

p.s.
Mahalo for those of you who have sent your positive wishes for my healing. I am confident that with the imminent change (please pray for this) to an agricultural lease reducing my stress level, I can regain my perfect health using all organic methods. At the request of practical friends, I am keeping a check on things with traditional allopathic medical doctors--not to worry. I'm feeling quite well and intend to stay well.
