Dragonflyer Newsletter # 21

Oct. 28th 2007

View out the back window of "Uncle Spencer's House" where my brother, Jim, lived...and died.

Aloha Dragonflyers,

Last night I returned from my profound Idaho journey where the whole clan celebrated my brother Jim’s abbreviated but fine life. Knowing how much he enjoyed skeet shooting, Jim’s ashes were loaded into shot gun shells. We all fired off the riffles, shooting his remains over his beloved front-yard pond, "burning out with a brillant blaze."

I thank my dear cousin, Wendell Starke, for providing both my father and brother with years of beauty in this gorgeous valley near Twin Falls, Idaho.

The valley of which I speak

Today I am asking all of you to take the time to try to preserve Hawaii by stopping an invasion of Stryker Brigade from coming here to practice "war games". We have been quietly over run by the military polluting our Hawaiian sacred soil for decades--without our knowledge or consent. It is time to stop the out-of-control war machine! Read my full essay informing you of the problem so that you will understand the importance of our effort to stop the Strykers as a beggining to reversing the war with Aloha.
I hope you will pass along to your friends that we need a national and international public outcry to make this happen. SQUAK about this insidious poisoning of lethal Depleted Uranium radiation that is affecting us worldwide!
For background information about DU, read the essay by Dr. Gabriel Cousens.

"Non-Violence" Monument, United Nations

Please write to the PublicComments@aec.apgea.army.mi, demanding that, in accordance with U.S. and International Law, our government stop using WMD.

Tell the military that we want the army to CLEAN UP the mess they have made, as required by our United States law (U.S. Army Regulations AR 700-48 and TB 9-1300-278). We want ENVIRONMENTAL REMEDIATION NOW!

Simply put:
Vote "NO" to Depleted Uranium and "NO" to Strykers in Hawaii;
Vote "YES" to Aloha and "YES" to a WMD radiation-free Hawaii DMZ.

Look at http://www.protecthawaii.ws/ and www.dmzhawaii.org and send a copy of your email to: tenfingers10toes@protecthawaii.ws

PLEASE spread the word to everyone who cares about preserving our precious islands, reversing the wrong direction war has been taking us. We need to stop having these sacred islands be a free-for-all military toxic waste depository and stomping ground for “war games”.

Invite friends to embrace the Spirit of Aloha, sharing what we learn from indigenous Hawaiian's--that every person on the planet is "Ohana of the World." As "family," we need to take care of one another and our mother earth. We welcome your help to make Hawaii a DeMilitarizedZone as a step toward Worldwide Peace.

With kind actions we can preserve and export the Aloha Spirit throughout the world, to create understanding and lasting peace—our only prudent and sane defense.

And now on the lighter side, I'd like to provide you with a laugh or two.

I want you to know about the importance of good oil in you diet. Most of us realize that pure, virgin olive oil is great for our salads. Many of us just learned that heating olive oil changes the molecular structure to something we don’t want in our bodies. When I looked inside the cabinet where my brother lived, I sobbed when I found he had been using Fred Meyer “NATURAL” soybean oil. Talk about rancid oil that is bad for the arteries! The very best oil we can use for both eating (as in with quinoa or oats or amaranth for breakfast in the morning) and for cooking (fantastic with portabella mushrooms sliced and roasted in the toaster oven with oil and Redmond Real salt) is the EXTRA VIRGIN COCONUT OIL from the Philippines. It helps you drop weight! . Click here to read why.

Dennis Kucinich is introducing a bill to impeach Bush and Cheney for their numerous unconscionable misdeeds. Click here to see what you can do to help make certain that we get impeachment proceedings happening before Thanksgiving.

As you all know, our courageous Lt. Ehren Watada realized he was “lied” to and refused to participate in an "illegal and immoral" war. Click here to learn about his   Nov. 9th trial date by Judge Seattle, US Court System.

Anyone want to purchase a fee simple half acre with an adorable 3 bedroom, 2 bath home just 4 minutes from here? The property is zoned to build another house with clear ocean view if you so desire. I am listing it with a real estate dealer in a few days!

Want to come here and help out? We have a program for responsible, mature, care-giving folks who would like to live here like family, helping make the Dragonfly be filled with beauty and Aloha. Phoenix has been wonderful but is looking to travel again soon. Contact me if you are interested.

I wish to thank my dear friend, Phoenix, for taking care of the Dragonfly, our guests and our Pomeranian “babies,” allowing me to attend my brother's celebration. Among his many talents, Phoenix also gets this Dragonflyers out to you. Mahalo nui loa.

My Country, Right or Wrong?
From a speech by Carl Schurz                                 Anti-Imperialistic Conference,                                  Chicago, Illinois,     October 17, 1899:

“I confidently trust that the American people will prove themselves … too wise not to detect the false pride or the dangerous ambitions or the selfish schemes which so often hide themselves under that deceptive cry of mock patriotism: ‘Our country, right or wrong!’ They will not fail to recognize that our dignity, our free institutions and the peace and welfare of this and coming generations of Americans will be secure only as we cling to the watchword of true patriotism:Our countrywhen right to be kept right; when wrong to be put right.’”

Big hugs. Warm wishes for a wonderful Fall and an exciting Halloween.
Aloha nui loa,

Barbara Ann “Kenonilani” Moore
