I’m writing this quick note to let all of you know about 3 important upcoming events:


THANK YOU LT. WATADA

Twenty eight year old local boy, Lt. Ehren Watada has been charged with “contempt” for President Bush and is facing 8 years of military imprisonment. You can learn more about this brave Hawaii officer’s story by going to www.thankyoult.org

This weekend, Ehren’s parents will be staying at the Dragonfly. They are coming from Honolulu to talk about their son, show his 3 minute video and introduce the Saturday and Sunday showing of “Sir, No Sir” (the inside story about veterans resisting the Viet Nam war that most of us never heard about).

It is a great honor to host the Watada’s. We are greeting them with a multitude of leis at the Kona airport at 5:15 this Saturday the 15th (Hawaiian Air). We want them to know how proud we are of their courageous son. On Sunday the 16th we are having a pot luck gathering at 4:30. We hope people will come contribute funds and ideas about how to free Ehren and stop this war. Please join us—in body or spirit.

Ehren is the perfect person—a soft spoken Hawaiian-spirited man of Japanese decent--to stand up and say NO to this ill-conceived, illegal, and immoral war.

I met Erhen’s Boy Scoot leader while holding up signs for support of Ehren. He told me that Ehren got to be an Eagle Scout by doing great service to the community. Ehren is doing a great service to his country now. Let’s all do what we can to support Ehren and end this war that is costing untold loss of lives as well as 3 billion dollars per week that could be better spent on PEACE and WELLNESS in the world.
