Getting
To The Dragonfly Ranch
From
Kona Keahole International Airport:
Phone to let us know your ETA (808) 328-2159. If it is after 4:00PM, the traffic has become very bad and it is better to enjoy dinner in town and miss the traffic by 7:00PM.
Turn right out of the airport onto the main highway. Go past
Kailua up a 10 minute hill. You will reach a plateau and pass
through the little towns of Honalo, Kainaliu, Kealakekua and
Captain Cook. Next you'll see a highway sign for Honaunau;
watch for highway mile marker signs (small, rectangular and
green)!
After
you pass the 104 mile marker, look to turn right onto Route
160, which is clearly marked by a large sign: "Pu'uhonua
o Honaunau". We are located exactly one and one half
miles down Route 160, on the right side. Look straight down
the
road and you will see two arrows marking a sharp bend in the
road and a large sign saying DRAGONFLY. Just beyond the second
arrow on the right you'll see a large mail box on an ohia post
saying "Welcome". Turn right, into our driveway (above
which hangs a dragonfly goddess). A sign says: "Dragonfly
Ranch."
After
you enter the gate, drive at a slow, steady pace (fluffy
pomeranians
will stay out of the way) straight up the steep driveway to
the unloading area. After unloading please go back down the drive and park in the lower lot under the arching monkey pod trees. Someone should
come out to greet you and show you to your room, welcoming you to enjoy the common areas.
From
Hilo or Volcano:
Coming from the South on Hwy 11, turn left
onto Route 160 after the 103 mile marker. From that point, follow
the above directions. You can stop in Na'alehu, at the Na'alehu
Fruit Stand (on the right) for juices and snacks.
If
you wish to call about where to eat or possibly sharing a meal
with us from the garden (with fresh "blessed" fish
if our family fisherman is lucky), we will be happy to help
you discover the most delightful food available (missing the bad traffic between 4pm to 7pm).
Wishing
you a safe journey!
